About Lynne McMenamin
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up” – Pablo Picasso
Born and raised in Australia, I’ve always been interested in experimenting with watercolour and acrylic in order to paint the world around me. A childhood spent in the country presented ample opportunities to observe and gain an understanding of birds and animals.
“The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work” – Emile Zola
As the years have rolled by I have developed a passion for printmaking – lino cut, wood cut and more recently Mokuhanga Japanese traditional wood block printing. All these techiques have allowed me to experiment with multi-colour, multi-block printing using different paint and paper with interesting results and at the same time feeling not entirely in control of results with each individual print run.
My wish is to create images that people enjoy. The seeds of childhood have grown through a lot of hard work and kind encouragement from friends and family.
